I think most people have a movie or two they loved that no one else did and hide that fact. Whether it had bad acting or awful visual effects, there was just something that clicked with your brain and made you think, "This movie is awesome." Of course you wouldn't say that out loud to your friends since they had already ripped the movie to shreds. This post is to those movies that didn't get recognized for the true value you hold to them.
Heathers is a movies from 1989 that features Wynona Ryder and Christian Slater in their early days of acting. From the really big shoulder padded jackets to the pretty far fetched plot it was an instant favorite. It may have been that they tricked the meanest girl in school drink Drano. It might have been the awkward phrases they used that still stick in my mind. "That is so very." and "What is your damage?" Who knows? Can we really pinpoint exactly why we like certain movies?
The Burbs, coincidentally enough was also released in 1989. It features Tom Hanks, Corey Feldman and a bunch of other no names as neighbors in a cul-de-sac. The plot revolves around Ray (Tom Hanks), who is taking a week off work to relax around the house. Of course he ends up spying on the weird next door neighbors, the Klopek's. After his dog digs up a femur bone under the fence around the same time that they notice their neighbor Walter is missing they begin to investigate what their neighbors are really up to. The overall plot of the movie, is not bad, but the reason why I love this movie are the little things. From the Military man across the street who eats animal crackers on his roof to the neighborhood teenager who invites his friends over to watch as the neighbors spy on the Klopek's. These are the things that make me watch this movie over and over.

Yes I almost put something in there about Brandon thinking Heather's was crazy. I talked my co-worker into re-watching The Burbs thinking now that he's older he will like it. Ya he still hated it.
Oh, ps, we're watching "The Burbs" in my acting class, and it's pretty funny.
